Source: 2020 CDC Hearing Screening and Follow-up Survey (HSFS)
Note: In many regions the COVID-19 pandemic interrupted the delivery of healthcare services in 2020, including newborn hearing screening and follow-up diagnostic and intervention services. As a result, infants born in 2020 and needing hearing screening and/or follow-up services may have experienced delays or had difficulties obtaining these services.

Percentage of infants screened for each category is calculated among the total occurrent births (e.g., % Males Screened = [( # Total Pass Screening: Male + Total Not Pass Screening: Male) / # Total Occurrent Births: Male ] * 100 ).
Percentage of infants receiving diagnostic testing for each category is calculated among the total number of infants not passing hearing screening (e.g., % Males Receiving Diagnostic Testing After Not Passing Hearing Screening = [( # Total with No Hearing Loss: Male + Total with Permanent Hearing Loss: Male) / # Total Not Pass Screening: Male ] * 100 ).
Percentage of infants enrolled in Part C Early Intervention services for each category is calculated among the total number of infants with hearing loss (e.g., % Males Enrolled in Part C Early Intervention After Diagnosed with Hearing Loss = [( # Total Enrolled in Part C Early Intervention: Male) / # Total with Hearing Loss: Male ] * 100 ).
