Data linked to NHIS data
Linking data is combining two or more datasets that have some related variables to create a new dataset. The new linked dataset maximizes the value of the original data. Researchers can analyze the new linked dataset to understand the relationships between different variables using data collected separately. For example, linking NHCS data with data from the National Death Index (NDI) produces a dataset that can be used to measure mortality after a patient left the hospital. These linked data also can provide information about the patient's cause of death.
NHIS data has been linked with data from several other sources, including NDI, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Access to these linked datasets is restricted and provided through the National Center for Health Statistics Research Data Center.
Other NHIS survey data
NHIS-Teen
NHIS-Teen is a web-based survey of young people ages 12–17 years whose parent participated in NHIS on their behalf. NHIS-Teen provides data about teens from teens.
Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander NHIS
In 2014, NHIS conducted the Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander NHIS (NHPI NHIS). This survey collected information about the health of Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders in all 50 states.

National Immunization Provider Record Check Study
NCHS and CDC's National Immunization Program implemented the NHIS/National Immunization Provider Record Check Study (NHIS/NIPRCS) in 1994 to determine the accuracy of the household vaccination reports for children aged 12–35 months.
NIPRCS's was to validate the children’s vaccination histories reported in the NHIS Immunization Supplement against the records obtained from the immunization providers for these children.
