CDC will engage further with tribes and tribal organizations to improve these resources and provide the data most needed to protect and improve the health of American Indians and Alaska Natives.

Technical Assistance and Tools
- CDC Data Modernization Initiative (DMI) - National effort to create modern, integrated, and real-time public health data and surveillance that can protect the nation from any health threat. For DMI technical assistance, contact CDC's Center for Surveillance, Epidemiology, and Laboratory Services
- CDC Disaster Epidemiology - Provides resources on morbidity and mortality surveillance, rapid needs assessments such as the Community Assessment for Public Health Emergency Response (CASPER), and disaster epidemiologic studies
- CDC Epi Aids - Provides short-term epidemiologic assistance of CDC's Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) officers to respond to urgent public health problems, such as unexplained illnesses, infectious disease outbreaks, and post-hurricane effects.
- CDC Public Health Law Program (PHLP) - PHLP develops law-related tools and provides legal technical assistance to public health practitioners and policymakers in state, tribal, local, and territorial jurisdictions
- CDC Surveillance Resource Center - Provides members of the public health surveillance community organized, easy access to guidance developed by CDC and its partners for improving the practice of surveillance
- Community Health Assessment & Health Improvement Planning - Provides information and guidance to assist state, tribal, local, and territorial health departments in developing community health assessments and health improvement plans
- Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists' Tribal Epidemiology Subcommittee - Provides information about the Subcommittee, which consists of epidemiologists and others working with American Indians/Alaska Natives in state, local, territorial, and tribal health agencies and epidemiology centers
- Health Hazard Evaluation Program - Provides information and resources to help employees, unions, and employers recognize and control health hazards in their workplace. Evaluations are done at no cost to the employees, unions, or employers
- National Council of Urban Indian Health - Serves as a resource center for individuals and organizations dedicated to improving the health of American Indians and Alaska Natives living in urban areas, including providing tribal data-related education, technical assistance, and training
- NativeData - Free, online resource—developed with support from CDC—that offers practical guidance for tribes and Native-serving organizations on obtaining and sharing health data
- The Future of Public Health National Summit Series, Summit 2: Creating an Interoperable and Modern Data and Technology Infrastructure Data Modernization - 2022 summit focused on how to use data and new technologies to improve public health and wellness; includes links to a recording of the summit, an overview, and relevant resources
- Tribal Epidemiology Centers (TECs) - TECs serve American Indian/Alaska Native tribal and urban communities by managing public health information systems, investigating diseases of concern, managing disease prevention and control programs, responding to public health emergencies, and coordinating these activities with other public health authorities
- US Core Data for Interoperability (USCDI) - Standardized set of health data classes and constituent data elements for nationwide, interoperable health information exchange; for tribal-related data, see Tribal Affiliation and Race, Ethnicity, and Tribal Affiliation

- CDC Fellowships and Training Opportunities - Provides information on CDC's fellowship, internship, training, and volunteer opportunities for students and professionals; see also CDC's Informatics and Data Science Workforce Development Programs
- CDC Learning Connection - Includes trainings from CDC, other federal agencies, and federally-funded partners; course search terms such as "data," "surveillance," and "epidemiology" are helpful in identifying data-related trainings for public health and healthcare professionals
- Disaster Epidemiology and Response: Training and Technical Assistance - CDC's National Center for Environmental Health provides disaster epidemiology training and technical assistance to requesting state, tribal, local, and territorial health departments; other federal and international agencies; academia; and partner organizations. Subject matter experts are available for consultation and technical assistance throughout the disaster cycle (preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation) to help minimize the effects of disasters on communities.
