Routine, systematic review of clusters of tuberculosis (TB) cases with matching genotypes can help determine clusters to prioritize for public health action. Prioritization is important for jurisdictions where investigating all TB genotype clusters may be too resource intensive. This publication presents background information on TB genotype cluster investigations and why they are important, describes how TB programs can establish a cluster prioritization process, and suggests considerations for assessing and prioritizing clusters for public health action.
