Eligibility
To be eligible for the Science Ambassador Fellowship, you must be a U.S. citizen and one of the following:
- A teacher or other educator interested in teaching public health to your STEM students.
- An educational leader in a U.S. school, district, or state interested in bringing public health into a STEM classroom or program. Examples include a district curriculum coordinator, principal, department chair, STEM coordinator, state teachers' association representative, afterschool program director.
The fellowship is designed for those who bring STEM lessons to grade 6-12 students. Preference is given to those who work directly with students or have experience creating lesson plans. Teachers and other educators of all STEM-related subjects and disciplines are welcome to apply. Applicants do not have to be full-time teachers, educators, or leaders. Public health experience is not required.
Previous applicants & participants
If you were not previously accepted to the fellowship, we encourage you to re-apply.
If you previously participated in a regional training workshop, you are eligible to apply to the fellowship.
If you previously participated in the fellowship, you are eligible to apply again five years after your initial participation.
Training
If you are interested in a shorter experience, we encourage you to register for a one- or two-day regional training workshop. During these workshops, you will practice using public health lesson plans and learn strategies to teach epidemiology and public health concepts. You will also meet and network with CDC and local public health experts.
