“It is my hope that the findings presented in the Healthy People 2020 Midcourse Review, both successes and challenges, serve to help guide officials, the public, and individuals in developing policies and programs that improve the health of Americans.”
— Charles J. Rothwell, Director, National Center for Health Statistics
“The Healthy People 2020 Midcourse Review analyzes the data by different populations—such as racial and ethnic populations, gender, income level, education level, and rural and urban settings—to identify disparities that influence health outcomes. Even when we have met or exceeded our targets, a deeper look at the data can uncover disparities that may be masked by the national average.”
— Don Wright, M.D., M.P.H. Deputy Assistant Secretary for Health Director, Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services
