This module explains how to use CDC's Growth Charts to assess and monitor growth among children and adolescents 2 to 20 years. It includes information on the 2000 CDC Growth Charts and the 2022 Extended BMI-for-Age Growth Charts. The material is intended for health care providers, such as dietitians, nurses, doctors, medical assistants, and other practitioners.
Introduction
To monitor U.S. children's growth, CDC recommends that health care providers use the:
- 2000 CDC Growth Charts for children and adolescents 2 years or older. They include stature-for age, weight-for-age, and BMI-for-age charts.
- 2022 CDC Extended BMI-for-Age Growth Charts for children and adolescents 2 years or older with very high BMIs (above the 97th percentile for age and sex).
