Staff Bio
Kristin Pope is the Deputy Director for Management, Operations, Policy and Communications with CDC’s Center for Forecasting and Outbreak Analytics (CFA). In this role, she provides strategic guidance and oversight for CFA’s management, policy, partnership, and communications efforts.
Areas of expertise
Kristin joined CDC in 2000 as a project officer with the Division of Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention. In 2003, she joined the National Immunization Program's Office of Policy, Planning and Evaluation where she worked on vaccine safety, health disparities, and influenza vaccination issues. She joined CDC's Office of the Chief Science Officer in 2006 as a senior policy analyst where she provided leadership in immunization safety-related policy, communications and partnership efforts.
During her tenure with CDC, Kristin has served in several leadership positions, including deputy director for Management and Operations for the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases (NCIRD) from 2017-2023; Associate Director for Policy for NCIRD from 2008-2017; Acting Deputy Chief of Staff for the CDC Director from January through June 2017; and Co-Director for management, policy, and communications with CDC's Immunization Safety Office from 2006-2007. Kristin has also worked in CDC's Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention Program and Global Health.
Prior to joining CDC, Kristin spent more than 10 years in the nonprofit sector, including the National Foundation for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, also known as the CDC Foundation.
