Training for Health Professionals

Purpose

CDC seeks to increase knowledge of brain health, dementia, and risk factors for dementia among the public and health professionals. CDC and its partners have produced several free training modules to inform and educate public health agencies, schools of public health, and private, nonprofit, and governmental partners about these issues.

What's included

Public Health and Dementia Curriculum

What it is: This free introductory curriculum is intended to increase awareness of the impact of Alzheimer's disease and related dementias.

Who it is for: This course is intended for undergraduate faculty in schools and programs of public health and other related disciplines.

Healthy Brain Initiative (HBI) Road Map module

What it is: This free training, developed by the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials' (ASTHO), is designed to support public health agencies in identifying priorities and taking action to improve dementia and dementia caregiving in their jurisdictions.

Who it is for: The training is intended for state public health agencies and their partners, who are primed to integrate the actions outlined within the Road Map.

American College of Preventive Medicine (ACPM) online brain health course

What it is: These courses were developed by the American College of Preventive Medicine (ACPM) to improve the assessment, diagnosis, and referral of patients to evidence-based programs for Alzheimer's disease and related dementias.

Who it is for: It is intended for physicians and health care professionals who will learn about using different strategies that can help improve brain health.

Learners can take these courses at no cost. Users requesting CME credits upon completion of the course will incur a fee.
