Surveillance population and isolate collection
The total population of ABCs for invasive disease is approximately 45.5 million. However, most states further restrict the population for certain pathogens to ensure complete reporting.
The table below summarizes the population under surveillance and isolate collection for each pathogen and state as of October 2022. Unless otherwise noted, surveillance is statewide. ABCs sites collect isolates for all cases included in surveillance areas, except where indicated (*) as different in the table below.
