CDC-RFA-DP-23-0015: CDC's National Networks Driving Action: Preventing Tobacco- and Cancer-Related Health Disparities by Building Equitable Communities. This cooperative agreement strives to prevent commercial tobacco use and cancer in populations with tobacco- and cancer-related health disparities.
About
CDC's Office on Smoking and Health and Division of Cancer Prevention and Control jointly fund this cooperative agreement. The cooperative agreement enhances the quality and performance of:
- Public health programs.
- Data and information systems.
- Practice and services.
- Partnerships.
- Resources that focus on tobacco- and cancer-related health disparities.
The cooperative agreement seeks to increase equitable delivery of tobacco prevention and cancer-related strategies and related interventions. It aims to advance health equity by addressing social determinants of health (SDOH). The cooperative agreement focuses on populations targeted by the tobacco industry. These populations have more cancer cases and higher death rates.
Each national network consortium provides leadership on and promotes evidence-based approaches for preventing commercial tobacco use and cancer. Strategies and activities will focus on:
- Network administration and management.
- Training and technical assistance.
- Establishing and managing a virtual or hybrid community of practice that focuses on SDOH.
- Mass-reach media that adds to work done by CDC-funded offices and chronic disease programs.
