2024 DIS Recognition Day
Dear Colleagues,
On Friday, October 4, we will come together to commemorate the 13th annual National Disease Intervention Specialists (DIS) Recognition Day under the theme "Power in Community." This theme celebrates both the DIS community, as well as the direct role these important public servants play in enhancing the lives and health of people in the communities they serve.
DIS have a long-standing commitment to safeguarding public health, tracing back to the 1930s. They have been unwavering sentinels, confronting diseases head-on and adapting to evolving health threats. DIS have proven themselves time and again by responding to various outbreaks, from sexually transmitted infections to modern challenges like COVID-19. Their expertise and adaptability have been instrumental in devising effective strategies and mitigating the impact of these diseases on our communities.
DIS forge connections, build trust, and empower people to take control of their health. Today, we express our heartfelt gratitude for their unyielding commitment and urge them to prioritize their well-being as they continue to confront emergencies that our nation faces.
On this National DIS Recognition Day, let us celebrate their dedication to public health and the profound impact they have on our communities' well-being.
With our sincerest gratitude,
