Effect of an Inflatable Colon on Colorectal Cancer Knowledge and Screening Intent Among Male Attendees at State Fairs in Two Midwestern States, 2023

PEER REVIEWED

At both sites, the population of interest was men aged 18 to 75 years, and the source population was state fair attendees. At site A, 669 individuals from that state fair were assessed for eligibility; of these, 91 individuals were excluded for the following reasons: did not consent, did not self-identify as male, were not aged18–75 years, or did not reside in state A. After these exclusions, there were 578 participants; of these, 6 were excluded because they did not complete postsurvey; these exclusions left 572 participants from site A. At site B, 475 individuals were assessed for eligibility; 100 individuals were excluded for the following reasons: did not consent, did not self-identify as male, were not aged 18-75 years, or did not reside in state B. After these exclusions, there were 375 eligible participants; of these, 7 were excluded because they did not complete the postsurvey; these exclusions left 368 participants from site B. The 2 samples were combined for a total of 940 participants in the final analytic sample.
