IMPLEMENTATION EVALUATION — Volume 18 — April 8, 2021
PEER REVIEWED
Timeline from 2014 to the present showing progressive milestones for Physical Activity Leadership Team (PALT) adopting Lifelong Improvements through Fitness Together (LIFT) as a statewide program. The figure is an arrow with the following milestones from left to right: In Fall 2014, a Virginia Cooperative Extension (VCE) needs assessment found gap in physical activity programs for older adults. In the spring of 2015, VCE established a Physical Activity Leadership Team (PALT). PALT members identified numerous programs for older adults in other states. PALT selected and adapted an existing best-fit program named LIFT. From September 2015 to May 2016, a pilot test was administered for reach and efficacy of LIFT, and preference for LIFT was confirmed. From June 2016 through December 2017, LIFT launched statewide with agents expressing desire for support from other agents. Beginning in January 2018 LIFT agents began cohosting trainings to share agent experiences. From 2018 through 2019, LIFT was scaled to Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and Wyoming. A repository for all LIFT program materials was created in 2019, and its data collection protocol was streamlined. In its response to COVID-19 and transportation barriers, LIFT began offering a web conferencing option in 2020.
