SYSTEMATIC REVIEW — Volume 17 — December 31, 2020
PEER REVIEWED
This flow diagram depicts the outcome of each stage of the article review process. A total of 11,762 articles were initially identified from the following databases: CINAHL, 4,502 articles; Family and Society Studies Worldwide, 1,469 articles; PsycInfo, 570; PubMed, 5,039; Social Work Abstracts, 70; and Sociological Abstracts,112. After removing duplicates, 9,170 articles remained. Those records were screened, and 8,640 were excluded. Next, the remaining 530 full-text articles were assessed for eligibility, of which 412 were excluded because they did not meet the inclusion criteria. The remaining 118 studies were eligible for inclusion in the synthesis, but 4 were excluded because they lacked information to answer research questions. A total of 114 studies were included in the synthesis.
