A Novel Decision Aid to Encourage Smoking Cessation Among Patients at an Urban Safety Net Clinic

In this screenshot of a web-based decision aid, a title across the top reads, “If I quit smoking, how much longer can I live?” Patients enter their age, packs of cigarettes smoked per day, and years of smoking, and then click “submit.” The user receives the response, “If you stop smoking you can live (number of years calculated) years longer,” which is accompanied by a corresponding number of images of birthday cakes, 1 for each additional year of life.
