Local Health Department Use of Twitter to Disseminate Diabetes Information, United States
The map shows the geographic location of local health departments with Twitter accounts and differentiates those that were tweeting about diabetes from those that were not.
Figure 1. Geographic boundaries of local health departments with Twitter accounts that did and did not tweet about diabetes as of June 2012.
The map shows the distribution of diabetes rates by county across the country and indicates the total number of tweets about diabetes from each local health department that has ever tweeted about diabetes. There is no discernible relationship between the diabetes rate in an area and the number of diabetes tweets of the local health department.
Figure 2. Geographic distribution of diabetes rates in 2009 (27) and the number of tweets about diabetes tweeted as of June 2012, from local health departments using Twitter.
