Community of Practice

A resource for all public health professionals

All public health professionals are encouraged to engage with the long-established NSSP Community of Practice, and those new to syndromic surveillance are invited to join. This group is committed to advancing syndromic surveillance practice by leveraging the expertise and resources of members to strengthen public health surveillance capabilities nationwide.

The NSSP CoP comes together virtually to share information, build knowledge, and solve problems. Fostering this group is an investment in building expertise to support the health of our communities.

Members range from epidemiologists conducting analyses for the first time to experts in public health surveillance. The CoP includes public health jurisdictions that contribute data to the NSSP BioSense Platform and practitioners who use local syndromic surveillance systems—along with CDC programs, other federal agencies, partner organizations, hospitals, health care professionals, and academic institutions.

Knowledge Repository

The NSSP CoP Knowledge Repository offers access to more than 2,000 surveillance resources. Offerings includes meeting recordings, a syndrome library, guidance documents, and featured content.

How it's funded

The Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists partners with NSSP to cultivate, facilitate, and maintain the NSSP Community of Practice in accordance with cooperative agreement #6NU38OT000297-02-01: Strengthening Public Health Systems and Services through National Partnerships to Improve and Protect the Nation's Health.
