DEEOIC Reschedules September 13 and 14, 2017, Authorized Representative Workshop

Authorized Representatives residing in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee are invited to attend the Division of Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation’s (DEEOIC) inaugural Authorized Representative Workshop being held December 6-7, 2017, at DEEOIC’s Jacksonville District Office in Jacksonville, Florida.The workshop is a two-day event for Authorized Representatives and attorneys who represent claimants under the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act (EEOICPA). During the two-day workshop, Department of Labor (DOL) staff, as well as representatives from the Department of Energy, the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and the Offices of the Ombudsman to NIOSH and DOL will present information on their EEOICPA roles.Authorized Representatives and attorneys will have the opportunity to attend several half-hour to one-hour long sessions on a variety of specific topics.Space is limited and reservations will be confirmed on a first-come, first-served basis. To save your seat or obtain additional information, please contact the Savannah River Resource Center at (866) 666-4606 no later than November 13, 2017.There is no cost to attend the workshop; however, all attendees will be responsible for their meals, transportation and hotel reservations. At this time, workshop attendance is limited to those Authorized Representatives residing in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. In the future, DEEOIC plans to sponsor additional workshops across the country for those Authorized Representatives residing in other areas. While this particular set of workshops is intended only for Authorized Representatives, DOL and its partner agencies will continue to hold outreach meetings throughout the year for the general public and plans to hold broader stakeholder meetings nationwide in the coming year.Date: December 6 – 7, 2017
