Release
NIOSH welcomes a new award partner this year, the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA), which joins previous partners the American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) and the National Safety Council (NSC) in presenting this year's award.
All nominations will be considered from, or for, individuals, teams, businesses, or other organizations who have developed PtD workplace interventions or research. Re-submissions or updates of previous nominations are allowed.
"Eliminating hazards on the front end is the best way to protect workers. By highlighting this practice through the PtD Award, we hope to inspire others to explore PtD in their workplace," said NIOSH director John Howard, M.D.
Nominations should demonstrate how PtD efforts benefit or improve worker safety, health, or well-being in the U.S. It should also address questions related to hazard, design, and hierarchy of controls; the design safety review process; and business case considerations.
To submit a nomination, visit the PtD Award webpage for instructions. Nominations will be accepted through March 1, 2024.
2024 PtD Award winners will be announced at AIHA Connect in Columbus, Ohio, May 20-22, 2024.
