Key points
- Registration with the National Health Care Surveys Registry carries over year-to-year.
- Once registered, you will receive annual documentation that you are in active engagement with the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS).
- If NCHS selects you to participate in a survey, you must submit data or deregister from the Registry.
Active engagement status
After completing your initial registration of intent, your status with one or both Electronic Health Record (EHR) Incentive Programs will immediately update to "Registered with the National Center for Health Statistics." This status carries over from year to year. There is no need to re-register for each calendar year or reporting period.
You must log into your Registry Portal account at least once every 90 days to keep the account active. In addition, you should update your registrations as frequently as possible.
Annual Active Engagement Verification
The National Centers for Health Statistics (NCHS) issues Annual Active Engagement Verification Documents (AAEVDs) for the previous calendar year. Hospitals, providers, and groups that have successfully submitted their registrations to the Registry will receive AAEVDs. Those who have progressed to the Testing and Validation or Production stages of data submission will also receive AAEVD letters.
You can generate your AAEVD letters for the previous calendar year once your registrations are in a "SUBMITTED" status in the Registry Portal.
Steps
- Log in to the National Health Care Surveys Registry Portal.
- Click in the upper-right corner under "AAEVD."
- Select "Generate letter."
- If customizations are needed, select "Customize letter."
Active engagement requirements
If you, your facility, or your group is invited to participate in one of the National Health Care Surveys, you must submit data. By registering with the National Health Care Surveys Registry, you have indicated your intent to provide data if selected.
If your organization decides not to submit data, you must deregister from the Registry. After completing the steps to deregister, you will receive an AAEVD from the Registry Portal confirming your deregistration.
