CDCM PHA STEM Lesson – Learning from Pandemic Flu
In Learning from Pandemic Flu, student scientists continue where Investigating Influenza ended and begin exploring pandemic influenza, including overviews of the 1918, 1957, 1968, and 2009 flu pandemics. Students learn about pandemic preparedness measures and take on the role of a public health official to design effective interventions that will stop or prevent outbreaks, based on actual historic events. Students share their interventions with the public to explain the role of preparedness in minimizing the effects of pandemics.
