Notices to Readers NCHS Report on Developmental, Learning, and Emotional Problems in ChildrenIn 1988, CDC's National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) conducted the National Health Interview Survey on Child Health (NHIS-CH). The survey addressed a broad range of health-related topics, including child-care arrangements; injuries and medical conditions; exposure to cigarette smoke; bedtime and sleeping arrangements; health insurance; sources of medical care; and developmental, learning, and emotional problems. The report, Developmental, Learning and Emotional Problems: Health of Our Nation's Children, United States, 1988, focuses on the incidence of these problems in U.S. children.
