Key points
- G-ASET for Inpatient Healthcare Facilities assesses core elements, structure, education and training, facility processes, and the presence or absence of activities related to antibiotic stewardship practices.
- Facilities and antibiotic stewardship programs can use G-ASET scores to identify major areas for improvement and allow antibiotic stewardship programs and healthcare facilities to track progress over time.
- G-ASET scores are for internal use only. See G-ASET Scoring Guide in the "Additional file information and materials" section below.
Additional file information and materials
One assessment should be completed per facility by the facility's antibiotic stewardship team. In the absence of a formal antibiotic stewardship team, the healthcare workers responsible for improving antibiotic use at the healthcare facility should carry out the evaluation.
Healthcare facilities should conduct the G-ASET annually at minimum to monitor progress over time.
The G-ASET is also available as an Excel document for easier scoring and basic reporting.
