Examples of how Kansas is working to prevent overdose

Opioid assistance and resource hotline

The Kansas Opioid Assistance and Resource hotline implemented ways to systematically capture the purpose of calls to better connect people to care and resources. This development helps staff better understand callers’ needs to inform hotline services and educational needs.

Risk-reduction public awareness campaign

Kansas implemented a public awareness campaign promoting risk-reduction tools such as the substance use disorder hotline, website, and naloxone distribution initiatives. This campaign included traditional and digital media channels including streaming services, social media, radio, and billboards. The campaign had nearly 11 million impressions and generated 2,400 calls to the Kansas Substance Use Disorder Hotline.
