What to know

Immunization information systems (IIS) are confidential, population-based, computerized databases that record all immunization doses administered by participating providers to persons residing within a given geopolitical area. This information details how to access immunization records for vaccine recipients who received a vaccine in Missouri.

General Information

Missouri’s IIS is called ShowMeVax, and it includes immunization records for vaccine recipients of all ages. Visit this webpage to learn more about the IIS.

Child Consent to Participate

For children, ShowMeVax requires implicit consent with opt-out by operational policy. Children are included in the IIS unless their parent(s)/guardian(s) choose to opt them out.

The child consent policy is based on alignment with the jurisdiction's provider reporting mandate.

Missouri does have a policy that regulates sharing data from ShowMeVax with other public health entities. The data sharing policy:

  • Requires that the data are only used for public health or other specific purposes and
  • Allows only deidentified data or nonidentifying summary statistics to be shared.
