What to know
Immunization information systems (IIS) are confidential, population-based, computerized databases that record all immunization doses administered by participating providers to persons residing within a given geopolitical area. This information details how to access immunization records for vaccine recipients who received a vaccine in Micronesia.
General Information
Micronesia’s IIS is called WebIZ, and it includes immunization records for vaccine recipients of all ages.
Child Consent to Participate
For children, WebIZ requires implicit consent with opt-out by operational policy. Children are included in the IIS unless their parent(s)/guardian(s) choose to opt them out.
Adult Consent to Participate
For adults, WebIZ requires implicit consent with opt-out by operational policy. Adults are included in the IIS unless they choose to opt out.
Provider Reporting
Micronesia does have a mandate for vaccination providers to report immunizations to WebIZ. The reporting mandate:
- Mandates universal reporting by operational policy.
Data Sharing
Micronesia does have a policy that regulates sharing data from WebIZ with other public health entities. The operational data sharing policy:
- Requires a data use/sharing agreement or memorandum of understanding and
- Requires protecting the data’s confidentiality.
