What to know

Immunization information systems (IIS) are confidential, population-based, computerized databases that record all immunization doses administered by participating providers to persons residing within a given geopolitical area. This information details how to access immunization records for vaccine recipients who received a vaccine in Houston.

General Information

Houston's IIS is the Texas Immunization Registry (ImmTrac2), and it includes immunization records for vaccine recipients of all ages. Visit this webpage to learn more about the IIS.

Child Consent to Participate

For children, ImmTrac2 requires explicit consent with opt-in by law. Parent(s)/guardian(s) must give explicit consent, or opt in, for their children to participate in the IIS.

For adults, ImmTrac2 requires explicit consent with opt-in by law. Adults must give explicit consent, or opt in, to participate in the IIS.

Provider Reporting

Houston does have a mandate for vaccination providers to report immunizations to ImmTrac2. The reporting mandate:

  • Applies only to a subset of vaccine recipients and
  • Applies only under specific circumstances.

Data Sharing

Houston does have a policy that regulates sharing data from ImmTrac2 with other public health entities. The data sharing policy:
