About the Editors

Sonja A. Rasmussen, MD, MS, was the Director of CDC’s Division of Public Health Information Dissemination in the Center for Surveillance, Epidemiology, and Laboratory Services (CSELS) and Editor-in-Chief of the Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR) Series while serving as the editor of this book. She is currently Professor of Pediatrics and Epidemiology at the University of Florida College of Medicine and College of Public Health and Health Professions. She has held leadership positions in several CDC emergency responses, including 2009 H1N1 influenza, Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS) coronavirus, and Ebola and Zika viruses.

Richard A. Goodman, MD, JD, MPH, is Professor of Medicine at Emory University’s School of Medicine and Rollins School of Public Health. Dr. Goodman held leadership and senior staff positions at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention from 1978 to 2015, serving as Editor-in-Chief of CDC’s Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR) Series for a decade, Co-Director CDC’s Public Health Law Program, and Associate Director of CDC’s Epidemiology Program Office.
