Strategies to advance health equity

  • Ensure that Farm to ECE coalitions have diverse membership.
  • Create culturally and linguistically inclusive materials.
    • Translate materials into different languages
    • Make them appropriate for different cultures
  • Promote existing federal programs that support ECE providers that care for families with lower incomes. Examples are:
  • Prioritize local food sourcing from farmers who are members of different racial and ethnic groups and women-owned farms.
  • Provide training and technical assistance on policies and practices that advance health equity.
  • Use an equity framework or assessment tool, such as the Racial and Social Equity Assessment Tool, to guide your work.
