Geographic Patterns: Stroke Hospitalization Rates for 2018 through 2020 for Blacks Aged 65 Years and Older by County. The map shows that concentrations of counties with the highest stroke hospitalization rates – meaning the top quintile – are located primarily in Michigan, Louisiana, Illinois, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Ohio. Pockets of high-rate counties are also found in eastern Texas, Oklahoma, Florida, Tennessee, Arkansas, Missouri, Indiana, Wisconsin, Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
