Dr. Lias is Acting Office Director of the Office of In Vitro Diagnostic Devices and Office of Product Evaluation and Quality at the Food and Drug Administration.

Experience

During her FDA career of nearly two decades, Dr. Lias has led efforts to promote the development of new therapeutic and diagnostic devices. These include devices for diabetes and drug dosing and monitoring.

In 2017, Dr. Lias received the Samuel J. Heyman Service to America Medal in Management Excellence. This honor was awarded for work promoting the efficient development and approval of the first automated insulin dosing system.

Dr. Lias holds a Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Cellular, and Molecular Biology from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
