Funding overview

2024-2027

The Four Corners Biomonitoring Consortium is assessing heavy metal exposures in rural communities and investigating per- and polyfluoroalkyl (PFAS) chemical exposure in occupations at greater risk for exposure such as firefighters.

2014-2019

The consortium implemented key studies based on similar residential, occupational, socio-economic, demographic, and environmental concerns among the state's residents.

  • The Private Well Drinking Water and Metals Contamination Study assessed exposure to metals of concern from well water in the consortium states.
  • The Exposure of Four Corners States Residents to Metals, Pesticides and Consumer Products assessed exposure to herbicides, pesticides, and phthalates in the consortium states.
  • The San Luis Valley Children's Study assessed exposures of children ages 3 to 13 to hazardous chemicals including metals, pesticides, and phthalates.
